On 13 October 2026, Ambassador of China to Cyprus Yang Yundong attended and addressed the Chinese Ambassador’s Fund Award Ceremony at the Cyprus University of Technology (CUT). The event was also attended by CUT Rector Panayiotis Zaphiris, President of the Board Andreas Karakatsanis, Chinese and Cypriot directors of the Confucius Institute at CUT, as well as recipients of funding support.

Ambassador Yang congratulated relevant faculty members and students who received the funding support. He noted that the establishment of the Fund aims to promote educational, scientific and people-to-people exchanges between the two countries; CUT faculty members and students are expected to get even more actively involved in the China-Cyprus friendship, and support the strengthening of the strategic partnership between the two countries.

Rector Zaphiris extended appreciation to the Chinese Embassy for setting up the Fund. He also expressed commitment to further enhance cooperation with China and contribute to the growth of Cyprus-China relations.

A recipient then gave a briefing on his cooperation project, and shared his personal experience and insights gained through the cooperation with Chinese colleagues.

Ambassador Yang also met with the university leadership and paid a visit to the Confucius Institute at CUT.
