California Invests 2.7 Billion Dollars to Improve Highway Safety, Enhance Transit Options and Prepare for a Changing Climate
Alameda County
$9,000,000 allocation on SR-123 (San Pablo Avenue) in the cities of Berkeley and Albany, from Heinz Avenue to Brighton Avenue. This project will construct bicycle and pedestrian crossing improvements, traffic signal upgrades for pedestrians, parking and auto circulation changes, and bus stop improvements.
$3,390,000 allocation on SR-123 (San Pablo Avenue) in the city of Berkeley, from Heinz Avenue to 0.02 mile north of Channing Way. This project will install pedestrian beacons, construct new curb ramps and pedestrian refuges, enhance crosswalk visibility, and install bicycle detection elements.
$3,039,000 allocation on I-680 in the city of Fremont at various bridge locations including; the South D.W.R Bridge and East Warren Avenue Bridge; also, on I-880, at Stevenson Boulevard Bridge and Patterson Slough Bridge. This project is for seismic retrofit, which will upgrade and strengthen the existing bridges, and overpasses to make them more resistant to earthquakes.
$1,565,000 allocation on I-680 in the city of Pleasanton, at the northbound I-680 to eastbound I-580 Connector Bridge. This project will replace the joint seal assembly and repair related deck concrete spalls.
$909,000 allocation on SR-185 (E. 14th/International Boulevard) in the city of San Leandro, from 0.1 mile north of 159th Avenue to 0.1 mile south of Estabrook Street. This project will upgrade sidewalks and facilities to Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards.
Contra Costa County
$13,113,000 allocation on SR-123 (San Pablo Avenue) in the city of El Cerrito, from the Alameda County line to I-80 near Cutting Boulevard to rehabilitate pavement and upgrade safety lighting. This project will extend the pavement service life and improve riding quality.
Marin County
$220,503,000 allocation on SR-37 in and near Novato, from 0.2 miles east of US-101 to 0.2 mile west of Atherton Avenue. This project will replace the Novato Creek Bridge and construct drainage systems.
$4,850,000 allocation on SR-37 and US-101, at various locations within Marin County. This project will rehabilitate bridges, overlay bridge decks, clean and paint bridge piles, install galvanic anode jacket system, and upgrade bridge railings.
$2,300,000 allocation on US-101 in and near Sausalito, Corte Madera, and Larkspur, at various locations. This project will construct concrete barrier, drainage system, relocate overhead sign structure, highway lights, widen shoulders, upgrade Advanced Warning Beacons (AWBs), install crash cushions, and repair fencing.
$1,850,000 allocation on SR-1 near Marshall and Tomales from 0.6 mile north of Marshall Petaluma Road to Second Street. This project will rehabilitate drainage systems.
$1,416,000 allocation on SR-1 near Marshall, at 1,2 miles south of Marshall Petaluma Road. This project will place rock slope protection, replace fencing, and repair the pavement.
$920,000 allocation on US-101 near Sausalito, at 0.1 mile north of Sausalito Road Undercrossing. This project is needed to stabilize the rock slope, clear the shoulder catchment of fallen rock, and repair the concrete barrier and fence.
Napa County
$4,131,000 allocation on SR-29 near Saint Helena and Yountville, at 1.1 miles south of SR-128 (Rutherford Road). This project will complete construction of the culvert and roadway, ongoing coordination with PG&E, continued traffic control and restriction of hazard work zone, ground stabilization and restoration, and environmental compliance activities.
$3,927,000 on SR-29 in and near Calistoga, from SR- 128 (Foothill Boulevard) to Lake County line; also, from 0.0 mile to 0.1 mile south of Heitz Way (north). This project will rehabilitate pavement, drainage systems, replace guardrails, widen shoulders, and improve bicycle and pedestrian infrastructure.
San Mateo County
$1,778,000 allocation on SR-1 near Pescadero and Moss Beach, from 0.9 miles to 1.9 miles south of Green Oaks Way; also, from Cypress Avenue to 14th Street. This project will install a Design Pollution Prevention Infiltration Area (DPPIA) and construct a dike.
Santa Clara County
$2,609,000 allocation on SR-87, I-280, I-680, and I-880, at various locations within Santa Clara County. This project will construct polyester concrete overlay at 4 bridges, add deck drains at 3 bridges, and implement seismic retrofit for stability at 2 bridges.
$1,160,000 allocation on US-101 near Gilroy at the southbound Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Facilities (CVEF); also, at the northbound CVEF. This project will rehabilitate Weigh-In-Motion (WIM) scales and CVEFs.
Sonoma County
$62,793,000 allocation on SR-37 from west of SR-121 at Sears Point to east of the Tubbs Island access driveway. The project will widen the highway to four lanes to add two High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) lanes which will improve traffic flow and peak travel times, increase vehicle occupancy in the SR-37 corridor, implement bus transit, provide environmental and public access enhancements. Importantly, the project will additionally include significant climate adaptation features that will increase the nature-based shoreline protection of SR-37.
$32,354,000 allocation on SR-37 near Novato, from 0.1 mile west to 1.0 mile east of SR-121. This project will improve traffic operations by modifying the intersection and extending the lane merge in the eastbound direction.
$7,527,000 allocation on SR-12 near the city of Sonoma, from 0.2 mile east of Siesta Way to Lomita Avenue. This project will construct a left turn-lane onto Verano Avenue, install audible accessible pedestrian signals (APS), and upgrade facilities to Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards; to safety and reduce the number and severity of collisions.
$6,420,000 allocation on SR-116 near Sebastopol, from Church Street to Mill Station Road. This project will rehabilitate pavement, drainage systems, and lighting, improve pedestrian and bicycle infrastructure, upgrade facilities to Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards, and upgrade guardrail.
$2,141,000 allocation on SR-1 near Stewarts Point and Gualala, from 3.1 miles south of Skaggs Springs Road to the Mendocino County line. This project will rehabilitate pavement, install roadway signs, replace sign panels, and add crosswalk.
$1,665,000 allocation on US-101 in Petaluma, at 0.7 miles north of E Washington Street. This project will repair and reconstruct the embankment slope.
Multiple Counties
$266,730,000 allocation on SR-24 in Oakland also in Contra Costa at the Caldecott Tunnel, at various bore locations in the Caldecott Tunnel. This project will rehabilitate and upgrade ventilation system of Caldecott Tunnel Bores 1, 2, and 3.
